Aztec Equipment Rentals

La Mesa Middle School Flag Pole.

As a community project that is specifically significant for Americanism and the students, VFW Ship 1774 was asked in June of 2012 to donate funds toward a project to install a 30 foot tall flag pole at La Mesa Middle School with an expected completion date of early 2013. It was an Eagle Scout candidate project led by candidate Arthur Knori of La Mesa Boy Scout Troop 219. Over $2,000 was required. Consultation with our membership and the Ladies Auxiliary resulted in the approval and disbursement of $500 total. Further, Executive Officer Roger Rotter decided to donate his time, expertise and equipment from his business, Aztec Rentals, to dig the hole and break the boulder that was found 15 inches under the top soil. This reduced the costs for the overall project and prevented any potential cost overruns, normal for a construction project, and enabled a quicker completion date. The project was completed and the pole was dedicated on 14 Sep 2012. The following pictures tell story, from start to finish:
