VFW Scholarship Programs

Every year, hundreds of thousands of students participate in the Voice of Democracy Scholarship Competition and the Patriot's Pen Essay Contest, garnering more than $3.4 million in scholarships and incentives. In addition to VFW's outstanding scholarship programs, Posts and Auxiliaries across the nation work with youth in scouting, sports, ROTC and military cadet programs. By providing leaders, funding, sponsorships and other resources, the VFW and its Auxiliaries encourage millions of America's young adults to higher ideals and greater personal achievement.

The Voice of Democracy

theme for the 2010/2011 year is, "Does My Generation Have a Role in America's Future?"  

The Voice of Democracy Scholarship Program is specified for grades 9-12.

Inputs should be submitted to VFW Ship 1774 or mailed to the Adjutant, at any date but the absolute deadline is 1 Nov 2010.

Patriot's Pen

The Patriot's Pen theme for the 2010/2011 year is, "Does Patriotism Still Matter?" 

Patriot's Pen Scholarship Program is specified for grades 6-8.

Inputs should be submitted to VFW Ship 1774 or mailed to the Adjutant,at any date but the absolute deadline is 1 Nov 2010.

Scout of the Year

he Scout of the Year Scholarship Program are those who are recipients of the Boy Scout Eagle Award, a Venture Scouting Silver Award, or a Sea Scout Quartermaster Award.

Complete applications must be submitted to the Ship by 1 March of each year. Inputs can be submitted via your school or directly to the Post from the individual.
